Award-winning Ubertas Wines, a new modern cellar door in the picturesque Barossa Valley, is the creation of brothers Kevin and Philip Liu.

Immigrating from Taiwan in 2007, the Liu brothers built Ubertas from scratch, creating a winery that embraced the best of the Barossa with hand-harvested 100-year-old vines and sustainable farming techniques.

Ubertas is currently building the Barossa Maze, an impressive 2,300 sqm hedge maze made entirely of native Australian plants. The Maze project commenced in early 2020 and will be open to the public in 2022.

Discovering WINEDEPOT in a magazine, Kevin got in touch for a demonstration of how the smart logistics and storage solution could support Ubertas with both their direct-to-consumer and direct-to-trade requirements.

“Our previous logistics partner was very expensive and it was hard to stay competitive in the market,” he shares.

“I was looking for an alternative with lower costs and less errors. Ron took me through a demo of the system and I found it was really convenient. All I had to do was ship my wine to their warehouse and when an order comes through, I can quickly submit it online then sit back while someone else takes care of all the packaging and delivery for me. It’s very convenient for a B2B or B2C business model.”

“With WINEDEPOT they have universal cutters for all wine sizes, so I didn’t need to buy new cutters just to fit different sizes of my wines. The guys in the warehouse are really efficient and my experience has been really positive.”

“Delivery is usually within a week, despite the pandemic which is really good. My previous delivery partners were efficient but sometimes parcels went missing, meaning I’d lose my wine, have to wear the costs to re-deliver and customers would have to wait longer.”

“Direct-to-consumer is the most profitable in returns for us, so we are hoping to grow this. The biggest thing will be getting people familiar with our winery. We’re a very new Cellar Door and a lot of people still don’t know us, so our strategy at the moment is to get the name out and build trust with our customers.”
