Awarded the Best Tasting Experience in the Adelaide Hills from Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine, Golding Wines, like many were sad to temporarily close their cellar doors as a result of COVID-19.
However, the timing of this closure came just months after establishing a new website to drive online sales – a saving grace for the winery who had also been heavily impacted by 2020 bushfires.
Speaking with Peter from Golding Wines, he shares “prior to bushfires and COVID-19, we had been developing a brand-new website to support online sales, which is a huge priority for us. We had just partnered with WINEDEPOT in mid-January when a huge influx of orders came in off the back of multiple campaigns to #shoplocal and support bushfire affected businesses, so it was perfect timing really!”
“We wanted to partner with someone who manage the logistics of sending out all the mass orders, which was previously being done in-house. WINEDEPOT will make things easier for us to manage. We’re working on orders going straight into WINEDEPOT, so instead of us having to key in orders individually, they will go straight into their system. So, in terms of efficiencies, from when people order to when they receive their goods, it will be a really short turnaround.”
“Since the bushfires we’ve also received a lot of new engagement from interstate customers, in addition to locals and wine club members who were already familiar with us. Normally, it would have taken us 4-5 days to deliver to these new interstate customers but with WINEDEPOT (when the current coronavirus pressure on Australia Post eases) we’ll be able to halve the delivery time to 1-2 days.”
In response to COVID-19, they also launched Wine Wednesdays, a live social media stream discussing a different wine each week which was then available for sale on their site.
“We’ve seen a lot of engagement with Wine Wednesdays!”
Their focus is on creating expressive and approachable cool climate wines. The style of wine that they like to drink and share with friends: wines that ultimately speak of their home in the Hills.
With stunning cool climate wines, live tasting notes, a brand new website and fast delivery – Golding are set to weather any storm!
